Anna Johnson knows how to get things done! Her track record of completing projects for District 8 communities speaks for itself. Anna was instrumental in the paving of new roads, the placement of new traffic safety lights and signs, and the construction of new drainage systems for flood control in District 8 communities.
Anna fought for the residents of Johns Island when a burn pit for hurricane debris was proposed on a 95-acre site that’s close to many homes. Anna rallied the residents of the island, and the plan for an incinerator was scrapped. As Chair for Public Safety, Anna spearheaded a movement to make Covid -19 testing and vaccines available to all residents of the rural areas.
Anna worked with non-profits to provide food to those living in rural communities who were having a hard time making ends meet during the pandemic. She is also helping people who are in need of air conditioning, but can’t afford it.
While serving as the Council’s Liaison to the Library Board, Anna accomplished much for her district and the rest of Charleston County. She played a major role in getting the Library funding question on the ballot. The referendum asking voters to approve the funding of five state-of-the-art libraries in Charleston County was approved. Today our new libraries not only provide books, but they also provide a safe- after-school haven for children. They offer computer and internet service to families who don’t have it available at home. Additionally, community meeting rooms are available for public use.
Anna listens to her constituents. She holds a Roundtable Discission every month because she is passionate about their concerns. She gives her all to serve the residents of District 8. Her three terms on County Council have given her invaluable experience and the connections needed to get the job done!
